KidTunes is an intuitive visual front-end over iTunes allowing your kids to access their own music collection while protecting your own library.
KidTunes can be used by children aged 4 and above. No computer skills and no reading are required as all music access is done through cover art browsing.
In order to use KidTunes you must have previously installed Konfabulator on your PC. Konfabulator is a light desktop enhancer distributed by Yahoo! running small applications known as widgets. KidTunes is a Konfabulator-based widget, it is mandatory that you install Konfabulator in order to launch KidTunes. Please check the konfabulator web site for any computer requirement or incompatibility.
The configuration is done once for all in two steps:
1. In iTunes, populate a specific playlist with your children favourite music:
2. Tell KidTunes to work
on this playlist
KidTunes will then show all the available covert arts from
this playlist. It is now time to pass the mouse to your kids and let
them choose by themselves the music they want to listen to!
- KidTunes works best with covert arts. Although it can also show undefined covers, it is recommended that you check that all music used in the playlist have some artwork defined. If not please go to web sites like Amazon to retrieve artworks.
- KidTunes might take some time to initialize depending on the size of your playlist. It usually takes less than 15 seconds for 20 albums.
- KidTunes works only on local playlists.
